Residents planning a mid-week trip to the dump will need to hold onto their trash a little longer as the city shuts down the facility for staff training.

The City of Thompson has announced that the local Waste Disposal Grounds are officially closed starting today, Wednesday, February 18, 2026. The closure will remain in effect through tomorrow, Thursday, February 19.

According to a local notice posted by the municipality, the two-day shutdown is necessary to allow facility staff to complete required training. Residents are advised to delay any trips to the dump until the facility reopens.
