Chamber Issues Rallying Cry: Local Businesses are the "Heartbeat of Thompson" - AI Generated Image
The Thompson Chamber of Commerce has released a stirring new message to its members and the public, characterizing the local business community as the “Heartbeat of Thompson” in a newly published manifesto.
The blog post, titled “The Heartbeat of Thompson: Why Our Local Businesses Are Unstoppable,” serves as a call to action for the city’s commercial sector, urging entrepreneurs to view themselves not just as competitors, but as “co-creators” of the community’s future.
In the post, the Chamber identifies “community” as Thompson’s “secret weapon” against the pressure of global chains and online retailers. To leverage this, the organization is asking its members to do two things:
- “Lean In”: Actively participate in networking events to share challenges and find communal solutions.
- “Double Down on Local”: Make a conscious effort to source goods and services from fellow local businesses to create a closed-loop economic system.
Representing over 130 businesses, the Thompson Chamber is the largest of its kind in Northern Manitoba. This new communication reinforces its mission—established in 1961—to foster economic resilience and prosperity in the North.
