Mystery Lake Schools to Hold Remembrance Day Assemblies November 10–11 - AI Generated Image
Schools across the School District of Mystery Lake will honour Canada’s veterans and fallen service members with a series of Remembrance Day assemblies and ceremonies on November 10 and 11.
On Monday, November 10, Deerwood Elementary, Burntwood Elementary, and Westwood Elementary will each hold in-school observances featuring student readings, songs, and reflections on the sacrifices made by Canadian Armed Forces members.
On Tuesday, November 11, R.D. Parker Collegiate students will take part in a larger community ceremony at the C.A. Nesbitt Arena, joining residents and local officials in a formal act of remembrance. All schools will be closed that day in recognition of the national holiday.
These events aim to help students understand the importance of Remembrance Day — a tradition that dates back to the end of the First World War in 1918, when the armistice was signed on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
By observing the day through assemblies and community participation, Mystery Lake schools continue their long-standing effort to connect younger generations with Canada’s history of service and sacrifice.
