Thompson Conducting Point-in-Time Homelessness Count October 14–15 - AI Generated Image
The City of Thompson and the Thompson Community Advisory Board on Homelessness are conducting a Point-in-Time (PiT) Count on October 14 and 15 to gather data on homelessness within the community.
The “Everybody Counts” survey will be carried out by trained volunteers wearing identifiable buttons. They will approach individuals in public spaces on the evening of October 14 and the morning of October 15 to ask whether they currently have a home. The goal is to capture a snapshot of homelessness in Thompson to help guide housing and shelter strategies.
People without a permanent home who have internet access can also complete the survey online during the same period. Those who are couch-surfing are encouraged to participate by calling MB 211 or visiting thompson.ca/p/point-in-time.
The City of Thompson emphasizes that the data collected will help inform future planning for housing supports, emergency shelters, and community services aimed at addressing homelessness in northern Manitoba.
