Thompson Council Waives Crisis Centre Event Fees - AI Generated Image
City of Thompson Council approved two requests to help bear the cost of planned community events this spring and summer during the March 9 Regular Meeting, waiving rental fees for the Thompson Crisis Centre and authorizing administration to pursue a partnership with Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak for a music festival.
The first request came from the Thompson Crisis Centre to waive rental fees for a community family event they are putting on at the TRCC gym on May 30 in partnership with MKO, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and the Northern Health Region. Council approved waiving 50 per cent of the fees, up to a total of just over $400, for the event.
The next resolution authorized administration to pursue a partnership with MKO regarding that organization’s plans to hold a music festival at the C.A. Nesbitt Arena on July 18. MKO told Recreation and Community Services Director Sonya Wiseman they would like the City to work with them on the event, either by providing a financial contribution or in-kind donation such as a rental fee waiver. Administration will report back to Council with details and a budget for the partnership.
