
Thompson Public Library Rolls Out New Clubs to Combat January Blues - AI Generated Image
The Thompson Public Library is inviting residents to start 2026 by connecting with their community, unveiling a diverse slate of new clubs and drop-in programs designed to get people out of the house this winter.
In a social media announcement posted yesterday, the library encouraged residents looking to “make some new neighbours” to check out their January programming, which includes options ranging from true crime discussions to fitness walking.
New Clubs Launching in January Residents can look forward to the following schedule:
- Crochet Club: Meets every Saturday from 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.. This drop-in club is open to crochet and knitting artists aged 14+ who want to “sit and work as we chat and laugh”.
- Sewing Club: The first meeting is set for Saturday, January 31 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. Aimed at ages 14+, participants should bring their own machine and supplies for a chance to “hang out with other seamstresses in the area”.
- True Crime Podcast Discussion Group: For adults (18+), the next meeting is January 10 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. The group will discuss the Canadian True Crime episode on the murder of Thelma Krull.
- TPL Book Club: Also for adults (18+), the club meets Saturday, January 17 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to discuss Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune.
- Gaming Club: A drop-in program for children aged 5-16 held every other Wednesday (Jan 7 & 28, Feb 4 & 18) from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m..
- Wednesday Walking Club: Starting January 7, the library will open early from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for residents (14+) to walk indoors and get exercise.
