Thompson Rural RCMP seized a significant quantity of cocaine during an investigation at the Thompson airport on 3 November 2025. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious package scheduled to be shipped to Bunibonibee Cree Nation (Oxford House).
Police examined the package, which appeared to be a television, and discovered four tightly wrapped packages inside. Further inspection revealed approximately 446 grams of cocaine, with an estimated community street value exceeding $222,000 in Bunibonibee Cree Nation.
The investigation led to the arrest of a 55-year-old individual from Bunibonibee Cree Nation, who was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and remanded into custody.
RCMP have stated that the investigation remains ongoing.
